Mourinho can’t drop Gareth Bale from Tottenham lineup claims Alan Shearer

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day 2 (h/t The Focus), former Newcastle United striker and legend Alan Shearer has claimed Gareth Bale cannot be dropped from the Tottenham lineup by Jose Mourinho after the Burnley clash.

Having struggled for most of his second spell with Tottenham since returning to the club last summer, Bale seems to have finally found form. The Welshman bagged a brace against Burnley as Spurs won 4-0 at home, to snap their poor run of results in the Premier League.

Bale’s double means that he has now scored four goals in his last four across all competitions. Apart from scoring two goals, the on-loan Real Madrid superstar also set up Harry Kane’s goal, with a brilliant long pass.

And Shearer has now claimed that on this form, Tottenham cannot afford to leave him out of the starting XI, while lavishing praise on his display.

“This is unbelievable. Lost his pace? Not there he hasn’t. Magnificent. The left foot ball, wonderful to Kane for his goal. Bale got his second goal – great first touch, very, very clever finish.

“We don’t know what’s going on on the training ground but you need to feel you belong there and that the manager wants you in the team. Certainly on today’s evidence, he has to stay in the team.”
