Jose Mourinho pleased with Dele Alli as Tottenham beat Fulham 1-0

According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho was left impressed by the performance of Dele Alli as his team edged out Fulham.

Tottenham continued on their winning ways, beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Thursday evening to make it three wins in three games across all competitions.

Dele Alli, who started as the No. 10 on the evening against the Cottagers, in place of Lucas Moura, looked bright early in the game. In fact, it was he who opened the scoring for Spurs, although it was awarded as an own goal by Tosin Adarabioyo.

Alli did seem to fade as the game went on, which was expected considering that he recently recovered from an injury and has hardly been a regular for Jose Mourinho in Premier League matches.

Nonetheless, the Portuguese was left heavily impressed by the England international’s display against Scott Parker’s side, while there was praise for Gareth Bale as well.

“I think he was good. Goal or own goal, that is not the important thing. The important thing is the position he got, which I think is fundamental. Playing as the second striker he has to go (beyond the striker). He did well until his fitness allowed him. Same as Gareth. Second match in the week is not easy. They did very well.”

The win sees Tottenham move to within four points of Everton in the fourth place. Up next is another tricky fixture against Crystal Palace which will be followed by the North London derby, with the Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb sandwiched in between.
