Mourinho issues update on Serge Aurier and Giovani Lo Celso ahead of Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has issued an update on injured stars Serge Aurier and Giovani Lo Celso ahead of the weekend game against Crystal Palace.
Following back-to-back wins against Burnley and Fulham, Tottenham have managed to close down the gap to the top four to just five points, with a game in hand. And Mourinho will be hoping that his team will be able to build on their recent momentum with another win when they host the Eagles this weekend.
However, Tottenham are likely to have to do so without Giovani Lo Celso once again. The Argentine has been sidelined with an injury since December but recently returned to training. However, Mourinho is of the opinion that the weekend game will come too soon for him.
“For Gio, I don’t think so, I don’t think so for Sunday, but, but there is maybe an opportunity, but I don’t think so,” he said. I will believe [more likely] for Europa League on Thursday.”
But, there was some good news for Tottenham fans as Serge Aurier could be available for the Palace game after having missed the midweek clash against Fulham. Mourinho explained his reason for leaving the Ivorian out of that game while insisting that he will be in contention for Sunday.
“Serge I believe yes. He had that injury then he played the last match until minute 70, 75 when he started feeling his calf again. He doesn’t have an injury, he has just not the best feelings after a muscular injury. I believe he is going to be [ok].”
