Manchester United unwilling to meet massive Harry Kane price tag set by Tottenham Hotspur
A report by Daily Mail (h/t Express) states that Manchester United are not looking to meet the £150m transfer fee that Tottenham Hotspur want for Harry Kane due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kane is one name that United have long been linked with. The Red Devils’ interest in the Englishman dates as far back as Louis van Gaal’s tenure at Old Trafford.
United’s strikers are not performing to their high standards, with the exception of Marcus Rashford. And the report adds that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add a striker to his squad in the summer transfer window.
Links with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland have grown. The Norwegian prodigy has 29 goals in all competitions this term for his club and is attracting a lot of attention.
Too expensive
Kane is another player that was linked with a move to the Red Devils. But that looks highly unlikely now with United looking to be financially prudent during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This also stems from Daniel Levy’s wish to keep the 27-year-old at the club. He has arguably been one of Spurs’ two best players this season, alongside Son Heung-min.
This comes as welcome news for Spurs fans who would want the English international to stay at N17 for as long as possible. So far, Kane has spent his entire career on Spurs’ books.
If Spurs want to win trophies, then someone like Kane is necessary for the club because of the goals and assists that he brings to the table.
