Gareth Bale and Joe Rodon discuss which football club is the biggest in Wales
Speaking on a live Twitch Q&A hosted by Tottenham Hotspur (h/t Wales Online), Gareth Bale disclosed which football club he supports.
The Welshman, who was born in Cardiff, revealed that it is his local club, Cardiff City. He then went on to state why they are a bigger club in South Wales as compared to Swansea City.
“Cardiff’s a bigger club, I said, because they’ve won the FA Cup.”
This is something that his Wales and Spurs teammate Joe Rodon disagrees with. And the winger mentioned Rodon’s belief that Cardiff cannot claim Bale because he has never played for them.
“He [Joe] obviously disagrees because he’s a Swan, but then he’ll go to me ‘you’ve never played for Cardiff’.”
Bale has spent his professional footballing career in England and Spain, having never played for a Welsh club. But that doesn’t mean that his love for his national team is any less.
For club and country
He said that he supports Cardiff City over Swansea City, but first and foremost, he’s a Welshman.
“Of course I’m from Cardiff, and I support Cardiff, but I’m a Welshman. I try to unite both if it’s even possible”
Bale rejoined Tottenham on a loan spell from Real Madrid after 7 years away, and the 23-year-old Joe Rodon signed from Swansea City.
Both have had a different experience of life at the club so far. Bale had a slow start to the season but is now flourishing on the right wing, having raked in 9 goal contributions in his last 6 games.

Rodon, on the other hand, has just had 4 starts in the league. But both of them would be hoping to feature more regularly together at the UEFA Euros this summer, where Wales would be hoping to break their trophy duck on the international stage.
