Sunderland take Aaron Skinner on trial from Tottenham Hotspur
A report by Sunderland Echo mentions that League One side Sunderland have taken Aaron Skinner on trial from Tottenham.
The 18-year-old signed a contract with the Lilywhites just last year and was described as a ‘wonderkid‘. He is now at the Black Cats, hoping to impress their U-23 team.
Skinner was at Bury before he was snapped up by Bolton U-18 in October 2019. Less than two months later, he was at Spurs’ U-18 squad.
The Salford-born Englishman is a centre-back by trade. He represented Bury at U-12 to the U-18 level and played a major role in them reaching the quarter-final of the FA Youth Cup in the 2018/19 season.
Skinner quickly climbed the footballing ladder and impressed at Hotspur Way to earn himself a contract. But now, it seems like the player and the club have decided to part ways.
Not a big loss

The game ended 1-1 after both teams scored early on in the first half. It remains to be seen what step Sunderland take now and if his debut was enough to earn him a transfer.
For Spurs, it does not seem like a big loss at this moment. The club is well stacked in defence and has two young centre-backs in Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga.
Davinson Sanchez is also only 24 years old, while Eric Dier is 27. So Jose Mourinho seems to have his defensive personnel sorted for the near future.

The club could, however, live to regret the move if Skinner turns out to be a world-class defender. But if the club has let him leave for a trial, then maybe he is yet to show any indication of that.
