Davinson Sanchez reveals if he wished to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January transfer window
Speaking in a press conference (h/t football.london) before the Europa League clash on Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez clarified that he did not wish to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Sanchez made just 5 league starts for the club before the start of 2021. As a result, the 24-year-old was increasingly linked with a January exit, with AC Milan being one of the potential suitors.
No move materialized and Sanchez stayed at Spurs when the winter transfer window concluded. And since the start of February, he has played in all but one league game under Jose Mourinho. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And Sanchez has now revealed that he did not want to leave North London in the first place. He said that he had the chance to bounce back, and he took it.
“Never! I never considered leaving the club. Football can give you the chance to bounce back in situations and that’s what happened.”
No intentions to leave
Adding to that, he said that did he not ask the Portuguese manager to play him more recently just because he was playing more regularly before.
“I never said I had to play because I was before. Just be humble in that moment.”
Sanchez is a vital part of the Spurs renaissance in the past couple of weeks. The Lilywhites are on the up, with 5 wins in their last 6 games in all competitions.
Moreover, we have let in just one goal in the last 4 games. Sanchez would be hoping that he can help his side overcome Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.
