Bobby Zamora supports Jose Mourinho over his handling of Gareth Bale
According to Mirror, Bobby Zamora has spoken in support of Jose Mourinho and his handling of Gareth Bale. The former Spurs forward felt that Mourinho being criticised for the way he has used Bale this season is wrong.
Gareth Bale returned to Spurs amid much fanfare this season. However, the forward struggled with injuries and fitness issues. But even after that, Bale couldn’t seemingly produce his old form. He was even singled out by Mourinho for his lack of commitment.
Nonetheless, Bale has slowly rediscovered his form. In the last three games, he has scored four goals. Zamora defended Mourinho amidst criticism that he did not handle Bale well during the initial stages.
“We don’t know how Gareth Bale has looked behind the scenes for the majority of the season, but it looks as though Mourinho has just been biding his time and waiting for him to get back to full match fitness before playing him regularly, Zamora said.
“Just because you’re Gareth Bale doesn’t mean you’re going to walk straight into the starting XI, especially under a manager like Jose Mourinho. There’s only a handful of managers who would be able to make a decision like that about such a big name. He’s been under a lot of pressure this season from the owners undoubtedly, but also from the fans.
Bale’s exclusion sparked the fans as to why he was not being played. But given the Welshman’s recent form, it feels like Mourinho was only waiting for the right time to unleash him.

Mourinho does deserve some credit for easing Bale into action. One needs to remember how injury prone he is and managing his minutes is vital. The Portuguese has used him carefully during games and has subbed him off at the first sign of discomfort. That has worked like a charm so far.
