Tottenham News: Harry Kane future questioned after Dinamo Zagreb loss
Speaking on BT Sport (h/t Express), Peter Crouch has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s loss in the Europa League could spell alarming news for the club in relation to the future of Harry Kane.
Tottenham came into Thursday night’s game against Dinamo Zagreb with a handy 2-0 advantage from the first leg. However, lackadaisical display from the entire team meant that the hosts were able to score three past a hapless Spurs’ team to send us packing out of the Europa League at the Round of 16 stage.
The defeat came after Tottenham had tasted a disheartening defeat to North London rivals Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend. Following these two defeats, Tottenham’s hopes of a Champions League berth for next season look bleak.
Europa League would have been our best ticket through to the premier European competition next term, but Jose Mourinho & co. were eliminated. As far as the league goes, Spurs are eighth, six points off of Chelsea in fourth. Amidst the turmoil, ex-Tottenham man Crouch has raised fears of what this would mean to the future of Harry Kane.
The 27-year-old is one of the best in the game and has been our best player this season. But with no trophy prospects, apart from the League Cup, and no Champions League football, Crouch is doubtful if he will stay.
“The last two games, tonight and the derby [defeat to Arsenal], their season is hanging by a thread. Look at Harry Kane. He’s a Champions League player – he shouldn’t even be in this competition. [Kylian] Mbappe, [Erling] Haaland, [Lionel] Messi, [Robert] Lewandowski – he’s on their level.
“He is a Champions League player, but he has gone out to Dinamo Zagreb and that is the worrying thing. Where is his head at?”

It is certainly a worrisome prospect for Tottenham fans. The exit in the Europa League is a bitter pill to swallow, more so considering that we were in a strong position going into the second leg.
More is expected from this team and a manager of Mourinho’s pedigree. A top-four finish and the Carabao Cup is still achievable although, based on recent performances, one shouldn’t get their hopes up.
