Transfer News: Ex-Tottenham boss Pochettino still eyeing Dele Alli reunion at PSG

According to Italian news publication Calciomercato, former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is still chasing a transfer for Dele Alli at PSG.

Pochettino spent a successful period as the manager at Tottenham before being sacked in November 2019. It was under him that the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane prospered at the club.

Now having taken over at PSG earlier this year, Pochettino has been pushing for a reunion with one of his former players in Alli. The England international has been out of favour under current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and has constantly been linked with an exit since the summer.

PSG had expressed an interest in taking him on loan last summer, but a move did not materialise.  (h/t The Guardian)

The interest has only multiplied since Pochettino took over in January. However, Alli had a move to Paris blocked by chairman Daniel Levy. (h/t Daily Mail)

Ever since, there have been some signs of the midfielder working his way back into Mourinho’s plans. Nevertheless, Pochettino continues to harbour hopes of a reunion with the former MK Dons starlet at the French capital club.

Across all competitions this season, Dele Alli has featured just 22 times, managing a paltry return of three goals and four assists. The fact that he has started just two games in the entire season in the Premier League is an indicator of where he stands under Mourinho.

It remains to be seen whether that changes between now and the end of the season. If not, Pochettino and PSG could come knocking again for his signing.
