Tottenham News: Jose Mourinho sends Ben Davies a message on Instagram

In the latest news reported by Football.london, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has sent a classy message to injured defender Ben Davies on Instagram.

Tottenham star Ben Davies travelled to Wales for international duty, with the Dragons set to play Belgium, Mexico and the Czech Republic over the next week. However, on Tuesday it was confirmed that the left-back was carrying a calf injury, due to which he has had to withdraw from the national team squad.

Davies seemingly picked up the injury in Tottenham Hotspur’s last game before the international break against Aston Villa. While the former Swansea City ace wasn’t part of the starting XI at Villa Park, he came on to replace the injured Sergio Reguilon early in the second half.

Between then and the end of the game, he seemingly picked up a calf injury but decided to play through with it. However, he hasn’t been able to recover sufficiently, causing his withdrawal from the national team squad.

Tottenham boss Mourinho, upon learning the news, took to Instagram, sent out a special message to Davies. In it, the Portuguese tactician hailed the left-back as a true team man.

“When a player plays injured to help his team to recover from two bad defeats, this can hapen [sic]. A man, team player.”

While it is a classy gesture from the Tottenham boss, one could also wonder if it is a dig at some of his other players. Mourinho had, after all, questioned the professionalism and attitude of his players following the defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Europa League last week.

As for Davies, it is yet to be ascertained as to who severe his injury is. Hopefully, he’ll be back soon enough as we will need every deck on hand in the business end of the season.
