Transfer News: Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris wanted by OGC Nice
According to news from The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has emerged as a transfer target for OGC Nice.
The Tottenham captain has been with the club since 2012 having signed from Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyon. One of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League during his prime, the 34-year-old has shown signs of regression over the past year or so.
Indeed, Lloris has made quite a few noticeable mistakes in recent times, hinting that he might be past his best days. Furthermore, his contract is set to expire at the end of the next season. As a result, there have been speculations that Tottenham are already lining up a long-term replacement for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Amidst this, Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice are ready to offer Lloris a way out of Tottenham Hotspur before next season. It was at Nice that the veteran goalkeeper starter his footballing career before moving to Lyon. And, the club is now hoping to bring him back to where it all started as a marquee addition to the ranks.
Lloris recently hinted at dissension in the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room after the team crashed out of the Europa League to Dinamo Zagreb last week. This could pave the way for him to return to France with PSG also interested, although Keylor Navas is the first-choice goalkeeper for Les Parisiens.
