Player News: Tottenham starlet Dane Scarlett pens first professional contract
In a bit of good news for Tottenham Hotspur fans, the Evening Standard has confirmed that youngster Dane Scarlett has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Scarlett turned 17 on Wednesday to trigger a deal that runs until 2023, with the club confirming the same on their official Twitter handle on Sunday.
The young forward has been making huge waves at youth football level on the back of which he broke into the first-team this season. Scarlett made his debut in the UEFA Europa League group stages against Ludogorets in November last year.
The teenage striker got his Premier League bow against West Bromwich Albion in February, becoming Tottenham’s youngest-ever Premier League player when he came off the bench in stoppage time, aged 16 years and 320 days.
Mourinho has previously confirmed that it was a privilege for him to hand Scarlett his first-team debut insisting that he will be a first-team player next season.
“Dane has incredible talent. Next season he has to be a first-team player. Immense talent. Very good physical development. He must have feet on the ground and head on his shoulders because he has a fantastic talent.”
We are delighted to announce that Dane Scarlett’s first professional contract with the Club has now been formalised.
