Gary Lineker hails Tottenham star Harry Kane as England beat Albania

According to Football.london, former England international Gary Lineker has lavished praise on Tottenham star Harry Kane after the Three Lions’ victory over Albania.

England made it two wins in two games in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers when they defeated Albania 2-0 away from home on Saturday evening. Kane, the England captain, played a critical role in the win as it was him who scored the opening goal before setting Mason Mount up for the second after the half-time break.

Kane got off the mark on the evening with a thumping header from a pinpoint cross played in by Manchester United’s Luke Shaw. And following the opening goal, Lineker, who like Kane is a World Cup golden boot winner, took to Twitter to hail the current England captain as ‘irrepressible’.

It was an important goal for Harry Kane as he brought an end to his eighteen-month goal drought with the national team. Indeed, the 27-year-old hadn’t found the back of the net since scoring against Kosovo in November 2019 in the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers.

Kane’s goal on Sunday takes his overall tally to 33 goals from 52 international appearances. He will now be hoping to go on a goal-scoring spree as he chases down Wayne Rooney’s record for the most number of goals for England.

Up next for Kane and England is a tough assignment against Poland back at the Wembley Stadium. Gareth Southgate’s men are currently top of Group I with Poland in second, two points below them. A victory this week would strengthen England’s grip at the top, putting in them good stead for qualification for next year’s World Cup.
