Transfer News: Tottenham decide not to sell Hugo Lloris in the summer
According to news from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have made a decision regarding the transfer situation of club captain Hugo Lloris.
Lloris has been with Tottenham since 2012, having joined from Olympique Lyon. Since then, he has grown into a pivotal member of the team eventually becoming the club captain as well. One of the best in the Premier League in his prime, the 34-year-old has shown signs of slowing down of late, though.
This has resulted in numerous speculations stating that Tottenham are readying to move him on in the summer transfer window. More so, considering that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s contract with the club runs out in a little over a year.
To that end, the club was even said to have identified replacements in the form of Burnley’s first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope as well as Dean Henderson of Manchester United. (h/t Football.london)
However, despite all the speculations, it is being claimed that Tottenham are in no rush to sell their captain this summer. It is said that Lloris is a well-respected figure within the club and works well with Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff.
So, unless the player himself kicks up a fuss about wanting to leave, which is extremely unlikely, an exit looks a distant possibility. In fact, the club has also held discussions over the possibility of handing him a new contract as well.

So, as things stand, the ball very much lies in Lloris’ court. He is said to have expressed a desire to play in his homeland once again before calling time on his career.
So, whether he decides to move on this summer or stays put will be up to him. As far as Tottenham are concerned, sanctioning a transfer for Lloris is the farthest thing on the mind.
