Arsene Wenger tells Harry Kane to consider staying at Tottenham Hotspur
Speaking on beIN Sports (h/t Mirror), legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has issued a surprise piece of transfer advice for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane.
The 27-year-old has been with Tottenham his entire career and has grown into one of the best strikers in the game currently. However, his subject has become a hot topic of speculation once again as we enter the business end of the ongoing campaign.
The lack of trophies in his career at Tottenham has been cited as a reason for Kane to seek a transfer away from the club by a number of pundits and ex-players. Wenger, who spent a large portion of his managerial career in the dugout of Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal, thinks otherwise.
The Frenchman is of the opinion that Kane should consider staying at Tottenham given as they have looked like a team capable of challenging for trophies this season. However, Wenger does add that the England captain would be the best person to assess the situation as things stand.
“Tottenham are in a position where they can be ambitious and we should not maybe judge only today’s situation. Tottenham was top of the league in December. He is the only one who can assess the situation. A player like that is always solicited by other clubs and always has to assess his situation.”
Wenger also spoke highly of Kane’s qualities and his ability to create chances that has really come to the fore this season.
“I respect highly his commitment and his quality and what I like today is he could play basically as a Number 10 because the quality of his assists and the speed of his vision and the execution of his speed on long balls is exceptional.”
