Tottenham loanee Juan Foyth hints at potential permanent transfer to Villarreal
Speaking to El Periodico Mediterraneo (h/ Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur loanee Juan Foyth has hinted that he would be open to joining current club Villarreal on a permanent transfer.
Foyth arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from Estudiantes. Having seen as a youngster with huge potential on arrival, the Argentine never quite managed to nail down a spot for himself in the three years he was at the club.
Having struggled for game-time, Foyth was sent out on loan to La Liga side Villarreal. After a slow start to life in Spain, the Argentine international has established himself as a regular under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery at El Madrigal.
The 23-year-old, till date, has featured 25 times for the club, scoring one goal and setting up two more, helping the Yellow Submarine advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
And when asked if he would like to move to the club on a permanent basis, Foyth said that it was not under his control, but did drop a hint that he would be open to such a move.
“It is a very nice club, but staying is not up to me. The only thing I can do is give everything on the pitch so that the team does well. Here the language has helped me a lot when it comes to integrating into the group, getting to know the city, although little because of the virus… Spain is an amazing place.”

Foyth is contracted with Tottenham till the summer of 2023. However, given that he has no place in Jose Mourinho’s plans, cashing in on him this summer would be the right move for all parties. As for a permanent move to Villarreal, it remains to be seen if the La Liga club want to secure his services beyond the current season.
