Gareth Bale makes Tottenham better, claims Wales midfielder Joe Ledley

Speaking on Sky Sports News (h/t Football.london), Wales midfielder Joe Ledley has claimed that Tottenham are a better team when Gareth Bale is on the field.

Bale returned to Tottenham last summer on a season-long from Real Madrid. The Wales international, though, hasn’t been able to make the kind of impact that was expected upon his return.

Even though he had been in decent touch prior to the international break, Bale has had to cop a lot of criticism, which Ledley believes is hard and unfair on the 31-year-old.

Speaking after Wales defeated the Czech Republic 1-0 on Tuesday, the former Crystal Palace midfielder insisted that Bale has had a good season up until this point and made Tottenham a better team.

“He’s had a lot of criticism, which I think has bee n a bit hard. He’s a great player and I think he’s done well for Spurs so far this season. I think he’s looked really well. I think Spurs look better when he’s playing but that’s what he’s capable of doing. If you give him half a yard he can finish or he can deliver balls.”

Bale played a key role in helping Wales win against the Czech Republic in their FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers Group E encounter. The 31-year-old set Daniel James up for the only goal of the game with a stunning cross.

Time and again, he has shown that quality for the national team and has looked good for Tottenham over the past month as well. However, as he made clear in a recent interview, the Welshman does not plan on staying at the club beyond this season.
