Hugo Lloris praises Tottenham transfer target Mike Maignan
As quoted by Le10 Sport (h/t HITC), Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has lavished praise on Mike Maignan, the man who could replace him at the club next summer.
Maignan, 25, has emerged as a top transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur heading into the summer transfer window. It has been claimed that Spurs are in the market for a new goalkeeper to replace Lloris on a long-term basis given as the club captain is 34 years old and will be out of contract at the end of next season.
Maignan, to that end, has emerged as a viable alternative for Tottenham, after having enjoyed a couple of very impressive seasons with Ligue 1 club Lille.
And Lloris himself has recognised the growth and development that Maignan, who is his deputy for the France national team, has gone through.
“Mike is levelling up season after season. He took even more importance in the performances of Lille. He did win some important points at times. He is one of the goalkeepers of tomorrow. Mike is very ambitious – he wants to be challenged at a high level.”
Lloris comments should only strengthen Tottenham’s decision to make a move for the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window. Having joined Lille from PSG in search of first-team football, Maignan has grown into one of the best custodians in Ligue 1 and can be the ideal long-term replacement for Lloris at the club.

Recent reports have stated that Tottenham might not part ways with Lloris this summer. Nevertheless, that doesn’t change the fact that at 34 he is entering the final stages of his career and needs to be replaced eventually. So, the club must move for Maignan in the summer, amid serious interest in him from Borussia Dortmund as well.
