Transfer News: Tottenham interested in Joachim Andersen
According to the latest news from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a transfer move for Joachim Andersen, who has impressed on loan at Fulham.
Heading into the summer transfer window, Tottenham are said to be looking at a new central defender, someone who can be vocal and act as a leader at the back while also boasting of Premier League experience. And Andersen is someone that the club has watched repeatedly this term.
The 24-year-old defender spent the early parts of his career in his homeland, Denmark before making the switch to the Netherlands in 2013, where he joined Twente. Four years later, he made the jump to Sampdoria before signing for Olympique Lyon in 2019.
After a season in France, Andersen arrived at Fulham this past summer on a season-long loan deal, with the Cottagers having no option to make the transfer permanent. The 24-year-old missed a few games early in the season due to injury but since returning to full fitness he has been a mainstay at the back for Scott Parker’s side.
In fact, Andersen has gone on to captain Fulham in more than half of their Premier League games this term, despite being on loan and in his first season in England. And, he has played an integral role in their new-found defensive solidity that is aiding them in their fight for survival from relegation.
These qualities are said to have appealed to Tottenham a great deal, who want to sign him in the summer. Any move, though, will not come cheap as Andersen still has three years left on his contract with Lyon. And the club’s owner Jean-Michel Aulas is known to be a tough negotiator.

Apart from Andersen, the other names under consideration are Brighton & Hove Albion captain Lewis Dunk and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
Dunk, though, recently penned a five-year contract with the Seagulls and does not fit the profile of Daniel Levy signings while Milenkovic would come with no experience in the Premier League.
