Transfer News: Tottenham ‘really trying’ to sign Paulo Dybala from Juventus
According to news from Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are trying really hard to secure the summer transfer of Paulo Dybala from Juventus.
The 27-year-old is at a crossroads with regard to his career. Dybala’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of the next season and talks over a new deal are yet to begin. The Bianconeri are prepared to put the Argentine international on the transfer market in the summer, piquing the interest of Tottenham.
Tottenham had come close to signing Dybala in the summer of 2019. However, a deal fell through due to concerns over third-party image rights payments. However, as per the report, that is not a problem anymore, which should clear the path for Spurs to make a move.
Having been overly dependent on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in the final third this season, Tottenham could certainly do with a player of Dybala’s quality and proven pedigree. The Argentine would take some pressure off of the Spurs’ star attacking duo with his ability to score and create.
Furthermore, with Gareth Bale’s loan spell coming to an end at the end of the season, there will be a spot open in the attacking unit that Dybala could come in and fill.
However, the report adds that Dybala isn’t really excited about the possibility of a move to the Premier League. And Tottenham will need to convince him to change his mind over the matter if they are to secure his signing.

Dybala has managed a return of three goals and two assists from 16 games in 2020/21. Not used regularly by Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo, it seems like La Joya could be on the move this summer. However, it remains to be seen if Tottenham are able to convince him to move to London.
