Transfer News: Tottenham star Son Heung-min a target for Bayern Munich
According to news from Football Insider (h/t Daily Mail), Bayern Munich are considering making a move to secure the transfer of Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son Heung-min.
The 28-year-old has been with Tottenham since 2015, having signed from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. During his time at the club, Son has grown into one of the best forwards in the team as well as in the Premier League.
This season, the South Korean has been in sublime form having scored 16 goals and set up 18 more across all competitions.
Son is contracted to Tottenham till the summer of 2023. However, talks of a new £200,000-a-week contract for the forward have been doing the rounds since last October. But little progress has been achieved on that front as we approach the end of the season.
And now, Bayern Munich are plotting to swoop in for the Tottenham superstar. The Bavarian giants are willing to hand Son a five-year deal worth more than what Spurs are willing to offer him. In addition, the reigning German and European champions are willing to wait for a year to move for him, when he enters the final year of his deal.
Jose Mourinho has previously stated that Son wants to stay at Tottenham and a contract signing will take place once the pandemic situation eases off and things return to normalcy.

It remains to be seen if Bayern’s enter into the picture changes any of that. Son, along with Kane, has been our best player in recent times. A new contract for him would be a just reward for his performances.
And with interest in him emerging from Germany, the club would be better off speeding up the negotiations.
