Opponent Watch: Allan Saint-Maximin could return against Tottenham
According to Newcastle United’s official site, Allan Saint-Maximin could be fit for the clash against Tottenham. The forward has been out injured since February after the Wolves game and had the international break to work on his fitness.
Manager Steve Bruce believes that the tricky winger could be back for this vital clash but another of his important players, Callum Wilson could still be out for that game.
“He could be (involved), yeah. We’ve still got two days to train, today and tomorrow, but he came through a big training session 48 hours ago, so we hope he’s a bit more advanced than Callum is. We hope he can play some part.”
Isaac Hayden will also be a miss for the weekend but goalkeeper Martin Dubravka will likely be back after missing international duty with illness. Bruce will also be hoping that Ryan Fraser stays in the form he has been in for Scotland.
Spurs were 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture and Bruce is wary of the threat posed by Mourinho and his charges.
“When you play against José’s team, you know that first and foremost we’re going to have to play well. They had a decent result last time out. For me, (with) José, the criticism that he receives is, in my opinion, ridiculous. Here is one of the greats. Over the last 20 years, what he’s done and what he’s done in the Premier League is there for everybody to see.”

With Saint-Maximin back fit, Spurs will now have an additional threat to deal with. The Frenchman is a tricky customer on the ball and can slip past defences easily. Spurs will need to be careful in dealing with what could possibly be Newcastle’s biggest threat.
