Transfer News: Tottenham confident of keeping Harry Kane amid serious interest
According to the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham Hotspur are confident of keeping hold of star striker Harry Kane amid widespread transfer interest in him.
The 27-year-old is staring at the possibility of a second season in a row without Champions League Football. In addition, the lack of silverware at Tottenham has been time and again cited as a reason for him to consider a switch.
Kane, for the longest time, has been admired by Manchester United while Manchester City have also joined the race for the England captain as they hunt for a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero. The Argentine will be leaving the Etihad Stadium when his current contract with the club runs out at the end of the season.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old is also courting interest from La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid as well.
Tottenham, though, are confident that he will stay put at the club. This is because Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy will not consider selling him to a direct rival at any cost.
And any club from outside England wanting to sign him will need to pay a mammoth transfer fee – something that is not possible for either Barcelona or Real Madrid at the moment due to their financial issues.
