Transfer News: Tottenham keeping tabs on Man United loanee Jesse Lingard
According to transfer news from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close watch on Manchester United star Jesse Lingard who is shining bright away on loan at West Ham United.
The 28-year-old Lingard came through the youth ranks at Manchester United and grew into a key first-team player after several spells away on loan. However, over the past season and a half, he had pretty much fallen out of favour under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Having failed to play regularly, Lingard secured a loan transfer away to West Ham during the January window. Since making the move to London, the attacking midfielder has thrived to such an extent that he has forced his back into the England national team.
In eight games for the Hammers, Lingard has plundered as many as six goals while also laying on six assists. This has seen West Ham make it a priority to try and sign him permanently at the end of the season. (h/t Eurosport)
However, they may face competition from Tottenham, who are said to be closely monitoring Lingard at the London Stadium. The 28-year-old is a player that Spurs’ boss Jose Mourinho knows very well from his time at Manchester United. In addition, Lingard played some of his best football under the Portuguese as well.
With there being question marks surrounding the future of Dele Alli at Tottenham, a transfer move for Lingard could very well work out as a shrewd move.
