Tottenham News: Nuno Espirito Santo eyed by Daniel Levy to replace Jose Mourinho
According to news from the Mirror, Tottenham are considering Wolves’ boss Nuno Espirito Santo as a managerial candidate amid the uncertainty surrounding Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese tactician has been in charge at Tottenham since November last year. However, he has come under increasing amount of pressure in recent weeks with the club crashing out of the UEFA Europa League and facing a battle to finish in the top four.
A failure to secure Champions League football could spell trouble for Mourinho with Tottenham already eyeing up replacements, with Nuno said to be one among the managers being considered. (h/t Mirror)
Nuno, a player under Mourinho back at FC Porto, has been with Wolves since 2017 and led them back to the Premier League in his very first season. Post that he has managed to lead the Midlands outfit to back-to-back seventh place finishes in the top-flight.
And even though Wolves have tailed off a bit this season, Nuno is someone that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy holds in high regard as per the report.
The Portuguese is contracted with Wolves till 2023 but has constantly been linked with a move away. And, it may so happen that Levy might consider swooping him away from the Black Country outfit at the end of the season. His compensation package to leave Wolves is likely to cost around £8m.

As for Mourinho, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager still has time to save his job. A late charge for the top four coupled with the Carabao Cup win could be enough for him to get another season to turn things around. Goes without saying that the next month or two will be critical for both Jose and Tottenham.
