Tottenham Transfer News: Carlos Vinicius back on Wolves’ radars
According to news from the Express, on-loan Tottenham Hotspur striker Carlos Vinicius has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League rivals, Wolves again, ahead of the summer window.
The 25-year-old Brazilian striker arrived at Tottenham Hotspur last summer on a season-long loan deal from Portuguese giants SL Benfica. As part of the agreement, Spurs have the option to make his transfer permanent for a fee of around £36m.
Since joining the club, Vinicius hasn’t been trusted a great deal by manager Jose Mourinho due to which he has largely been relegated to appearances in cup competitions and Europa League. Of late he has been used in the Premier League and hasn’t done all too bad.
In all, Vinicius has managed 10 goals and 3 assists from 22 games across all competitions for us. However, as per the report, it is looking highly unlikely that the option to make his transfer permanent will be taken up by Tottenham.
This is because the club is staring the prospect of missing out on Champions League which would leave us operating on a tight budget. And at a time when there is the possibility of sacking Mourinho, which could cost Spurs around £35m, Vinicius is seen as a luxury signing that can be avoided.
Nevertheless, the club will hold talks with Benfica over a deal for Vinicius for a reduced price of £18m.
Amidst all this, now Tottenham will also have to contend with added competition from Wolves. The Midlands outfit had tried to land the Brazilian January lasy year but their bid of £53.4m was shot down. Another offer of theirs in the summer of 2020 was also rejected. However, they will now revisit their interest in him again. (h/t Express)
