Eric Dier pinpoints five key aspects where Tottenham need to improve after Everton draw
Speaking to Spurs TV (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has pointed out the five key aspects that the team needs to improve after the draw vs Everton.
Tottenham were held to a 2-2 draw by Everton at Goodison Park on Friday night, despite having taken the lead in the first half through Harry Kane. Two goals from ex-Spurs man Gylfi Sigurdsson put the Toffees in front before Kane equalised to salvage a point for us.
The result meant we have now failed to win three games in a row, leaving our top-four hopes hanging by a thread. And Dier, who started as part of a three-man backline against Everton on Friday has highlighted the areas where Tottenham need to improve.
“We have to do better with two cutbacks on the edge of the box and we all need to deal better with that in a collective. The second one I need to do better on the side to stop the cross and collectively we need to do better defensively. We need to do better at keeping a higher level more consistently because we didn’t.”
“I think we showed character at times and at times we need to show more on the ball and defensively be a bit braver. We need to keep going and keep working on those things and finish the season as strongly as possible.”

As things stand, Tottenham are five points off of fourth-placed West Ham United, who happen to have a game in hand as well. Mourinho & co. cannot afford any more slip-ups if we want to have any hopes of achieving a top-four finish this season.
