Wolves begin search for Nuno Espirito Santo replacement amid Tottenham links
According to the Daily Mail (h/t Express), Premier League club Wolves have begun the search for replacements for current manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who has been linked with the Tottenham job.
Tottenham relieved Jose Mourinho of his managerial duties this past Monday following the 2-2 draw against Everton on Friday night. The result had left Tottenham in the seventh place, staring at the possibility of missing out on a top-four finish.
While Daniel Levy has appointed ex-midfielder Ryan Mason on an interim basis till the end of the season, the search for a new manager has started. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Massimiliano Allegri have all been mentioned as possible candidates, as has Wolves’ boss Nuno. (h/t Express)
The Portuguese tactician arrived at the Black Country outfit in the summer of 2017 and brought them back to the Premier League in his very first season in charge. Nuno then led Wolves to back-to-back seventh place finishes in the top-flight, gathering plenty of praise for the job he did.
And even though Wolves have tailed off a bit this season, Nuno continues to be held in high regard, with Tottenham said to be huge admirers of the Wolves boss. And even though he has a contract till 2023, the Midlands club are now afraid that the Portuguese might push to leave at the end of the season, amid interest from Spurs. (h/t Express)
This has forced them into start looking for replacements already with former FC Porto manager Vitor Pereira, along with Jose Mourinho’s former right-hand man Rui Faria, as well as former Benfica boss Bruno Lage. (h/t Express)
