Chelsea legend Frank Lampard would be open to managing Tottenham
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), journalist Ian McGarry has claimed that former Chelsea manager and club legend Frank Lampard would be open to managing Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham are without a full-time manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last week. Former midfielder Ryan Mason has taken over the duties on an interim basis till the end of the season while the club looks for a suitable appointment.
Among the various names that have been mentioned over the past week, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard’s has been one. The former England midfielder is currently unattached after he was let go of by the Blues in January earlier this year. (h/t Express)
Now, McGarry has claimed that Lampard would have no qualms about taking over at Tottenham despite his past history and association with Chelsea. (h/t Express)
“Frank is someone I know very well, he’s pragmatic, he’s ambitious, he wants to progress his coaching career. I don’t think he would see crossing the border if you like from south west London to north London necessarily as a dealbreaker for him.”
Lampard is not the most experienced manager out there. Indeed, he has just two-and-a-half-year experience as a first-team boss, one of which he spent in the Championship with Derby County and did exceedingly well. His first season at Chelsea was also a relative success given as he managed to take the team to a top-four finish and the FA Cup final.

However, a run of poor results midway through the current campaign saw him getting the axe. While he might prove to be a popular choice, he would certainly be an interesting way to go for Tottenham next term.
