Transfer News: Tottenham make approach for Bartlomiej Dragowski
According to transfer news update from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry for Fiorentina’s Polish goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski.
The 23-year-old started out at the academy of Jagiellonia Bialystok in his homeland, before making the switch to Fiorentina in the summer of 2016. After a short loan spell away at Empoli in 2019, Dragowski has been a regular fixture in goal for the Viola, racking up 74 first-team appearances so far in which he has kept 15 clean sheets. Dragowski and Fiorentina haven’t had the best of the seasons in 2020/21. Indeed, the Serie A giants are 14th in the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone. And, Dragowski, who has featured in each of their 33 league outings thus far, has ended up shipping in a whopping 52 goals so far.
Nonetheless, the Poland shot-stopper seems to be attracting plenty of interest heading into the summer transfer window. Indeed, as per the news update from Schira, Dragowski has been a subject of transfer enquiry from as many as three Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham’s search for a new goalkeeper makes sense considering that Hugo Lloris is entering the twilight of his career and sees his contract with the club run out in a little over a year. Joe Hart may be an able deputy, but at this stage of his career, he cannot be considered as an option to slot into the starting XI week in week out.
So, bringing in a new goalkeeper would be a step in the right direction. However, Dragowski might not be the best of options. Nevertheless, the journalist claims that Spurs have asked for information about the 23-year-old, whose contract with Fiorentina expires in 2023.
