Transfer News: Arsenal beating Tottenham Hotspur in Yves Bissouma race
A Daily Star report mentions that Arsenal are ‘confident’ of winning the transfer race for Tottenham Hotspur target and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, Yves Bissouma. The defensive midfielder is also linked with a move to other Premier League clubs in West Ham United and Everton. However, the Gunners seem to be in pole position to sign him.
Mikel Arteta is a ‘huge admirer’ of Bissouma and wants to partner him alongside Thomas Partey, who was signed from Atletico Madrid last summer. The report also mentions that Arsenal will maintain their interest even if Arteta is sacked in the summer.
The deal is believed to be in the region of £30m after the Malian international impressed this season on the South Coast. Bissouma would still have 2 years on his contract at the end of this season considering his deal expires in the summer of 2023.
Battle for Bissouma
However, Brighton would happy to see Bissouma leave in the summer if it means them doubling the £15m they spent on him in 2018 to bring him to England from Lille.
Bissouma would provide quality cover and competition in Spurs’ midfield. He has starred in a Brighton team that look like avoiding relegation with ease and a move to N17 would undoubtedly be a step up for him.
But with interest from the Gunners, the Toffees, and the Hammers, Tottenham would know that it is not an easy path to sign him.
