Gareth Bale picks Serge Aurier as standout performer for Tottenham vs Sheffield United
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale named Serge Aurier as the player who impressed him the most in the 4-0 rout of Sheffield United on Sunday night in the Premier League.
Tottenham bounced back from the Carabao Cup final defeat in stellar fashion as they hammered the Blades 4-0 at home, as Bale led the way with a brilliant hat-trick while Son Heung-min also scored.
Apart from the duo, right-back Serge Aurier also managed to catch the eye on Sunday night as he grabbed two assists, setting up two of Bale’s goals, having managed just one league assist throughout the course of the campaign up until the weekend.
Speaking after the game, Bale chose to single out the Ivory Coast international for praise, hailing him for his role in the victory.
“It was a great performance by everyone especially Serge [Aurier, who provided two assists]. I said if it was three assists he could have the match ball.”
Bale also reflected on his own performance, insisted that it was always a nice feeling to be among the goals but called on the team to focus on the next game.
“It’s always nice to get another hat-trick and another match ball. I remember my last hat-trick – Villa away I think. It was a while ago and it’s nice to get a hat-trick, but more importantly it’s three points for the team and we move on to the next one.”

The win sees us move into the fifth place in the Premier League table, five points below Chelsea in fourth. With four games left to be played, there is absolutely no room for error. Hopefully, the team is able to continue in the same vein of form when we face Leeds United next.
