Tottenham star Harry Kane and FA call for government action to stop online abuse
According to the Independent, Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane has joined hands with the FA to call for strict government action in order to stop online abuse against footballers.
Numerous footballers, irrespective of clubs, have been subject to vile racial abuse online by so-called fans, and there haven’t been any steps taken by any of the social media companies to weed out this disgraceful behaviour.
Taking a stand against the issue, all Premier League clubs, footballing organisations, major superstars, businesses and media outlets went on a four-day boycott of social media over the weekend.

“English football, sporting organisations and people across the world united over the weekend to boycott social media, challenging platforms to do more to stop online discriminatory abuse. We now call on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to use their power to affect change and ensure there are real-life sanctions for online hate. We invite these social media companies to respond to our requests for action.”
Now, the English FA has issued a statement, shared by Tottenham star and England captain Harry Kane, in which they have called on the Government to introduce a legislation to force social media companies to do more in order to stop online abuse.
“We will continue to challenge social media companies to make changes to their platforms, urge Government to introduce strong legislation quickly and request that individuals call out and report online abuse when they see it.”
