Tottenham open stadium to 10,000 fans for final game vs Aston Villa

As confirmed on the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur are set to welcome back 10,000 fans for the final Premier League home game against Aston Villa this month.

Tottenham face off against Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the final home match of the 2020/21 campaign on May 19 at 6 pm. And the club has confirmed that as per the Government rules as many as 10,000 fans will be allowed into the arena to watch the live action.

A statement released by Tottenham read:

“We are delighted to confirm our plans to welcome 10,000 fans back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for our final home Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa on Wednesday 19 May, kick-off 6pm UK, subject to Government confirmation of Step 3 protocols becoming active from Monday 17 May.”

If it goes through as planned, this will be the first time that fans are allowed back into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since December last year when 2000 supporters had been able to attend back-to-back games against Arsenal in the Premier League and Royal Antwerp in the UEFA Europa League.

A spike in coronavirus cases at the time saw the Government impose restrictions on stadium attendance but the regulations are slowly being lifted now. Indeed, fans were in attendance when we played Manchester City in the finals of the Carabao Cup at the Wembley Stadium last month.

And, now the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will once again be filled with fans, even if it is only 10,000 at the moment, when we face Aston Villa on 19th May.

It is, indeed, great news for the club as well as the fans. While matches have carried on over the past year, the game is just not the same without the supporters inside the stadium. Hopefully, these last few games pave the way for increased attendance once the new campaign gets underway.
