Transfer News: Jose Mourinho told to forget Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier at AS Roma
A club insider at Tottenham Hotspur (h/t The Sun) has revealed that there is ‘no way’ that Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg would be sold amid interest from Jose Mourinho at AS Roma.
The Portuguese manager was sacked at Spurs last month and will take over the Italian side next season. And reports have since emerged that he has asked his bosses at Roma to sign Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from his former club.
The English defender is a vital part of Spurs’ backline and was signed for just £4m back in 2014, with 3 years still remaining on his contract. Hojbjerg, on the other hand, has been an ever-present for Tottenham this season since his £15m last summer.
The Danish midfielder has started every Premier League game this season. And Spurs fans don’t need to be reminded of the shortage of experienced centre-backs on the club’s bench right now.
No way, Jose
But according to the club insider, there is currently no chance of the duo departing N17 this summer. And while the new manager will have the ‘final say’, it is unlikely that they let Dier or Hojbjerg leave as well.
“There is no way we would sell either of these players. Of course, the new manager would have the final say. But you cannot see whoever comes in wanting to let them go either. Both are incredibly important members of the team and you cannot see that changing.”

Keeping our main players is a basic step any incoming manager should ensure in order to take this club forward. With rumours circulating around Harry Kane every other week, Spurs should be wary of losing the spine of the team no matter what amount of money they get for it.
