Japhet Tanganga ruled out of Leicester vs Tottenham with ankle injury

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (h/t Football.london), interim Tottenham manager Ryan Mason has confirmed that Japhet Tanganga will miss the game against Leicester City with an ankle injury.

Tottenham will travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City in the final game of the Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon. The game will be a crucial one for Mason & co. with the hopes of European football hinging on it.

Indeed, Tottenham, following the loss to Aston Villa in midweek, have dropped down to seventh in the table, with West Ham occupying the sixth place. With both Everton and Arsenal breathing down our necks from behind, grabbing all points becomes necessary in order to play Europa League football or at least qualify for the Conference League.

And now, Mason has confirmed that Tottenham will have to do so without the services of defender Japhet Tanganga. The Spurs’ academy graduate had started the last two games due to Serge Aurier’s fitness troubles.

However, he will not be involved on Sunday afternoon, along with Ben Davies, who has been sidelined since late March. (h/t Football.london)

“Japhet and Ben are out. Japhet suffered a naughty ankle ligament injury and he’ll be out. Ben has started doing some individual training.”

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

It has been an injury-riddled season for Tanganga, who has never been able to get a regular run of games due to intermittent fitness issues. And just when it looked like he would be ending the season on a strong note, he has once again been hit with an injury.

With Aurier and Matt Doherty back available, Mason should have options at his disposal against Leicester though.
