Massimiliano Allegri rejects approach from Tottenham Hotspur
According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Italian manager Massimiliano Allegri.
Tottenham have been without a full-time manager ever since Jose Mourinho was let go of by the club last month. Ryan Mason has been named as the interim boss up until the end of the season as the hunt for a new boss continues.
And, Allegri, as per the report, is one of the names that the club is considering for the role. The 53-year-old has been without a job since leaving Juventus in the summer of 2019, after having won five league titles in a row with the Bianconeri. In addition, he had also won one more Serie A title with AC Milan prior to that.
One of the most accomplished, successful managers of the current era, Allegri would have been a great coup for Tottenham. However, as per the aforementioned report, the former Juventus and Milan boss has turned down an approach from the north London giants. Instead, the Italian tactician is waiting for an offer from reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid. (h/t Express)
There have been doubts surrounding the future of Zinedine Zidane and the Merengues have identified Allegri as one of the potential candidates to take over. And it seems like the Italian is reciprocating the interest. (h/t Express)

It remains to be seen who the club brings in to replace Mourinho on a full-time basis before next season. Allegri would certainly have been an excellent choice but he could be on his way to Real Madrid instead.
