Gennaro Gattuso added to list of potential new Tottenham Hotspur managers for next season
According to a report by Italian outlet Rai Sport (h/t The Express), Tottenham Hotspur have added Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso to their shortlist for next season.
Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho in April and Ryan Mason took over as interim boss until the end of the campaign. But things have not gone well since then, with the Lilywhites losing the Carabao Cup final and not making the top 4.
Either way, Spurs would have made a new managerial appointment at the end of this season. And the club has been linked with a number of top names such as Graham Potter, Erik Ten Hag, and Julian Naglesmann.
Ten Hag has committed his future to Ajax while Nagelsmann has joined Bayern Munich for next season. However, Spurs have a new name in contention for the job in Napoli’s Gattuso.
Gattuso to Spurs?
The Napoli boss is set to depart the club after the final gameweek of this season, with the report mentioning that the club officials are not happy with how his side fell from title contenders to top-4 hopefuls.
But Napoli’s loss could be Spurs’ gain. It was reported a few weeks back that Daniel Levy wants a manager with a younger profile than Ralf Rangnick, and Gattuso, 43, could fit that criterion.
He has managed AC Milan in the past, a club he spent years playing for. Most memorably, a match between Spurs and Milan in 2011 saw the fiery midfielder clash with Spurs coach Joe Jordan on the touchline.

Gattuso took Napoli to Coppa Italia glory in his first season in charge. And if he decides to come to N17, then Spurs fans would hope that he could do the same and end their 13-year run without silverware.
