Transfer News: Newcastle United among three clubs interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers
According to a report by SBI Soccer (h/t The US Sun), Tottenham Hotspur loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers is being pursued by up to 7 clubs, including Newcastle United and Bournemouth.
The 23-year-old has had an impressive season at the Vitality Stadium. He joined the Cherries from Tottenham last summer in a one-year-long loan move and has made 26 appearances this term in the Championship.
His future has been thrown into the air after Bournemouth lost to Brentford in the Championship play-off semi-final. And amid this, Newcastle United have entered the race for his signature and are willing to meet the £10million valuation.
No homecoming for Carter-Vickers?
Jonathan Woodgate, Bournemouth’s manager, is a fan of Carter-Vickers and revealed recently that he wants the American international to find a ‘home’ where he can play regularly.
“He needs to find a home and really cement a home and have that place where he’s going to play week in, week out. I think if I’m speaking for Cam, he’ll want that. He’ll want to try and find a home. I can’t see him wanting to be loaned out again and I’m sure he’d want to find a home and somewhere to settle.”
Apart from Bournemouth and the Magpies, Anderlecht are also interested in the defender, with Vincent Kompany left impressed by him. Four other MLS clubs are linked as well, but his wage demands could act as a big hurdle. (h/t The US Sun)
Carter-Vickers was promoted to the Spurs senior squad in 2016/17 but has never made an appearance for the Lilywhites. He has been loaned out six times whereby he has racked up over 100 appearances in the Championship.

In this regard, Woodgate’s comments make sense. A move away from N17 seems like the best solution for all parties, with Spurs also making a hefty profit if his valuation ends up being met.
