Rio Ferdinand hails Tottenham ace Son Heung-Min, includes him in Team of the Season
According to Football.london, Rio Ferdinand was left impressed by Tottenham star Son Heung-Min and included him in his Team of the Season. The Manchester United icon felt that the South Korean deserved to be in the TOTS ahead of Phil Foden.
A seventh-place finish was all Spurs could muster as they needed a late win on matchday 38 to do so. Despite showing promise during November and December last year, Spurs tailed off badly this year to limp towards a UEFA Conference League spot.
Nonetheless, there were a few bright spots in a season of doom and gloom. Son Heung-Min continued his superb form through most of the season as he kept Spurs alive and running. In total, he scored 22 goals and assisted another 17 in 51 games (h/t Transfermarkt).
Rio Ferdinand was mightily impressed with the South Korean star and included him in his team of the season ahead of Phil Foden.
“In terms of assists and goals, Son, he killed it. Son was unbelievable. Son’s got 17 goals, 10 assists [in the Premier League]. No one else can go in there. Like I say, Foden you could argue, maybe a little bit, but when you look at Son’s goals and assists record, he has to go in.”
