Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi gives update on future amid links to Tottenham Hotspur
As quoted by Italian journalist and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Football.london), Simone Inzaghi revealed he is yet to renew his contract at Lazio as links to Tottenham Hotspur continue.
Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho less than a week before the Carabao Cup final in April. Since then, Ryan Mason has taken charge of the club, but the 29-year-old has found life difficult in the Premier League.
The club has missed out on a top-6 finish and failed to win any silverware this year. Amidst this, Daniel Levy aims to replace Mourinho permanently in the summer by making a managerial appointment.
According to a report by Football.london, the club has identified the top candidate for the job and hopes to appoint them within 10 days. And Inzaghi is one of the many names linked to Spurs during this spell.
Inzaghi yet to renew Lazio deal
The Italian has spent 6 successful years at Lazio and his contract is set to expire this summer. And he has revealed that he is prepared to wait a little bit longer because of his love for the club.
“I’ve waited 16 months and now (for a new deal). Just because we are talking about Lazio and you know what it means to me, I can wait another three days. I’ve always moved on. But for no other team I would have waited so long for a contract renewal.”
Brendan Rodgers was another name linked heavily with Spurs. But after his team’s loss against the Lilywhites on Sunday, the Northern Irish manager assured his team’s fans that he will stay there during the next season.

It remains to be seen who the club appoints. Someone of Mourinho’s pedigree would be desired but incredibly hard to find.
