Daniel Levy will not entertain player-plus-cash deals for Tottenham ace Harry Kane
Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Express), former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton has claimed that chairman Daniel Levy will not entertain player-plus-cash offers for Harry Kane this summer.
Speculations have been flying left, right and centre ever since reports of Kane wanting to leave Tottenham in the summer emerged. The 27-year-old England captain, who is a product of the club’s academy, is seeking a new challenge to win trophies in his career. (h/t Express)
Given how reliant Tottenham are on Kane, his potential departure, should it materialise, would cause a major disruption within the team. So, it is only natural that chairman Levy is reluctant to offload the striker and has slapped an eye-watering £200m price tag in order to stave off suitors. (h/t Express)
There have been rumours that Manchester United, who are interested in signing Kane this summer, are willing to offer Anthony Martial in a part-exchange deal in order to bring down the transfer fee. However, ex-Spurs defender Alan Hutton has claimed that there is no chance Levy would accept such offers for Kane.
“If you get rid of Kane to bring someone like Martial in, it doesn’t suit them. The way Levy works, he won’t want those deals. He won’t want a deal where he gets a player then maybe only £70m for Kane. He wants top dollar for his prized asset.
“Whatever the figure is, he wants that and he won’t budge. He doesn’t have to sell him either. He wants as much money as he can so it can be reinvested in the whole squad, like when Bale left for Real Madrid. That’s the reason I don’t think there will be any swap deals.”

No player would be able to fill in the shoes that Kane would leave behind should he secure an exit. So, it is only prudent that the club get top-dollar for him and not settle for a player-plus-cash deal wherein an inconsistent star like Martial ends up at the club.
