Tottenham face Real Madrid threat in Mauricio Pochettino pursuit
According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are set to face competition from Real Madrid in the race for the managerial appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham have been on the lookout for a new manager for over a month now, following the sacking of Jose Mourinho. A number of names have been mentioned but little progress has been made. However, on Thursday, reports emerged claiming that Spurs were lining up a sensational swoop for ex-boss Pochettino. (h/t Express)
The 49-year-old Argentine was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019 and has since found home at PSG, where he took over in January earlier this year. Pochettino won two trophies in the 2020/21 campaign, although he did fail to lead the Parisian giants to the Ligue 1 title.
With the Argentine just seeing the season get over, rumours over his future are starting to pick up, with Tottenham said to have made contact with him over a return. And now, Real Madrid have also entered the picture to sign Pochettino. (h/t Express)
Los Blancos confirmed that Zinedine Zidane had decided to part ways with the club earlier on Thursday following a season that saw them finish without a single trophy. And they could now make a beeline for Pochettino as they look for a replacement for the Frenchman. (h/t Express)
