Tottenham in talks to bring Mauricio Pochettino back from PSG
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have begun talks with former manager and current PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino over a shock return to the club.
Pochettino spent over five years at Tottenham, having joined the club as manager in 2014. Under the Argentine, Spurs grew into title challengers as well as permanent fixtures in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the finals in the 2018/19 campaign.
However, a poor start to the 2019/20 season saw Pochettino getting axed by Daniel Levy, who replaced the 49-year-old with Jose Mourinho. But things failed to work out as planned under the Portuguese tactician, who was also shown the doors last month after a turbulent 17-month reign as Tottenham manager.
Ryan Mason was given the reins as interim boss till the end of the season. With the campaign now over, it is high-time that Tottenham appointed a permanent replacement for Mourinho. And with the search for a new manager not going as per plans, it seems like Tottenham have turned back to a familiar face in Pochettino.
The 49-year-old was without a job after being sacked by Tottenham in 2019. It was only in January earlier this year that he took charge of PSG and even though they failed to win the Ligue 1 title, Pochettino won two cups with his new club already. He still has one year left on his contract with Les Parisiens but Tottenham have opened negotiations over potentially bringing him back to the club. (h/t The Athletic)

It is not hard to see why Levy would want to bring Poch back. The Argentine would offer stability while also helping the club hierarchy mend ruptured relations with the fanbase to an extent.
Any deal, though, would be difficult to pull off as PSG don’t want to lose their manager only six months after appointing him.
