Brighton owner addresses Graham Potter future amid Tottenham links
Speaking to The Athletic (h/t Sussex Live), Brighton & Hove Albion owner, Tony Bloom, has addressed the future of manager Graham Potter amid strong links to the Tottenham job.
Tottenham are on the lookout for a new manager after having sacked Jose Mourinho last month. While Ryan Mason saw us through the remainder of the 2020/21 season following the Portuguese’s exit, he was only named on an interim basis, with the club now needing to make a full-time appointment.
Among the vast number of names being linked with the job, Brighton boss Graham Potter has emerged as one. The 46-year-old has done a solid job at the Amex Stadium, with the Seagulls playing an attractive, attacking brand of football.
And, he has emerged as one of the names on Daniel Levy’s managerial shortlist, along with the likes of Antonio Conte, Roberto Martinez, Erik ten Hag, among others. Brighton’s owner, Bloom, however, is not worried about the situation, insisting that he expects Potter to stay at the club for a long time. (h/t Sussex Live)
“When it comes to Graham, like players, unless anything substantive happens, I ignore it. There are always going to be stories about the head coach if you’re doing well or any of the players. We just carry on and ignore that. If anything happens, then we deal with it at that time.
“It reflects well on him and the club. I’m delighted for him, but at the end of the day, he’s our head coach. We’re delighted he’s here and we expect him to be here for many years to come.”

Potter has done a good job at Brighton and at Swansea prior to that. However, Tottenham need a more accomplished manager who can guarantee trophies and success. Someone like Ten Hag, who has won a lot with Ajax, could thus be a more viable target.
