Tottenham on red alert as Gianluigi Donnarumma heads for AC Milan exit
According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur have been put on red alert, along with Chelsea, over the potential availability of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer.
The 22-year-old has been AC Milan’s first-choice goalkeeper for over half a decade now having made his first-team debut at the tender age of 16. Since then, the Italian has grown into one of the finest shot-stoppers in Italy and Europe.
However, Donnarumma’s time at the San Siro is fast approaching an end as his contract with Milan is set to expire in a few weeks. And, the club director, Paolo Maldini has confirmed that the 22-year-old will be on his way out, after negotiations over a new deal failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
“Gigio was the protagonist, a leader, often the captain. Sometimes people find it hard to understand what it means to be professional. Being professional also means to be ready to change shirts, it’s difficult to find careers that start and end in one place.
“You need to have respect for those who gave so much and Gigio did it, he never disrespected Milan. The paths are divided, I can only wish him the best.”
With one of the most talented young goalkeepers set to be on the market as a free agent in the summer, many clubs are bound to sit up and take notice. Juventus are one such club who are keen on Donnarumma, as are Chelsea while Manchester United have also been mentioned as a suitor. And among these names are Tottenham Hotspur as well. (h/t Express)

Tottenham had been previously credited with an interest in Donnarumma but that never led to anything. However, the club is on the lookout for a long-term replacement for club captain Hugo Lloris, who is 34 years old, and Donnarumma’s availability on a free transfer is said to have put the club on high alert. A move, however, could be doubtful given the 22-year-old’s massive wage demands coupled with the agent fees that is being demanded by Mino Raiola.
