Tottenham see Erik ten Hag as another ‘Pochettino’ claims Alasdair Gold
Speaking on a live session on Periscope, Football.london’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham still remain keen on Erik ten Hag as their next manager. He further added that the club sees the Ajax boss in the same mould as former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham are on the lookout for a new manager having sacked Jose Mourinho from the post last month. A number of names have been since linked with the vacant job, including Erik ten Hag.
Tottenham, though, were swiftly dealt a blow in the pursuit of the Ajax manager as he signed a new one-year contract with the Dutch Eredivisie champions.
In spite of that, Gold has now claimed that Tottenham still remain keen on ten Hag and see him as another “Pochettino”. He even adds that Spurs could move for the Dutchman in case they are not able to bring Poch back from PSG.
“He had that contract extension and it looked at the time that he was signing a new deal, but the more you looked at it, it seemed like Ajax taking an option up to extend his contract by his year just for compensation reasons. It looks like that’s the case.
“Everything I’m hearing about Ten Hag is that Spurs see him as very much similar to Pochettino in the sense he’s a players’ coach and can improve what they have got and bring them on. He’s excellent with younger players. “I wouldn’t discount him if Spurs can’t get Pochettino, he’s seen as another Pochettino.”

Ten Hag has done a fine job at Ajax, working with young players and on a tight budget. While he is unproven at a club of a bigger stature, his team’s performances in European competition have shown that he can build a side capable of going toe to toe with the best. He would certainly be a good appointment for Spurs.
