Daniel Levy must back Mauricio Pochettino in transfer market if he returns to Tottenham, claims Jamie O’Hara
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express), former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has warned chairman Daniel Levy that he must back Mauricio Pochettino in the transfer market if he return to the club as manager.
Tottenham have been on the lookout for a new manager ever since Jose Mourinho was sacked in April right before our Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. A number of names have been linked with the managerial vacancy, but none more appealing that Pochettino.
The 49-year-old was let go of by the club in November 2019 after a slow start to the 2019/20 term. Having been out of a job for over a year, Poch took over the reins at PSG in January earlier this month and led them two trophies in the space of five months.
Tottenham, now, are said to be keen on bringing him back for another stint. And O’Hara is of the opinion that a return would be a step down from PSG for the Argentine but can see it happening as Pochettino has unfinished business at Tottenham. (h/t Express)
“I think it would be a good idea because he’s been a great manager for Spurs. I think it was when we were playing our best football and our best period. I don’t understand why he would leave PSG because I think it’s a backward step, going back to Spurs. But he obviously does love the club and he’s always said that he’s got unfinished business.”
O’Hara warns Levy over transfer investment if Poch returns
However, the ex-Spurs man has warned Levy that just bringing him back won’t do the trick. Instead, the club will need to make serious investments in the market. (h/t Express)
“What you do have to do is you have to back him. You can’t bring him back and not back him. The club needs a rebuild, it needs a revamp, it needs new players to come in.
“There needs to be a six or seven overhaul of players. I think if Pochettino does come back, and you are going to go back to your previous manager, you’ve got to give him the money to go out and build the team that he’s always said that he needed to do.”

Pochettino’s potential return would be huge for Tottenham. It could also potentially help the club hold on to Harry Kane for another season, while giving the team a fighting chance to get back where we belong. However, as O’Hara says, investment is necessary if we are to bounce back from the season gone by.
