Tottenham in advanced talks to appoint Antonio Conte as next manager
According to Sky Sport Italia (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Antonio Conte over making him the next manager of the club.
Having sacked Jose Mourinho from the manager’s job in April, Tottenham are yet to name a permanent replacement for the Portuguese. The club handed over the reins to former midfielder Ryan Mason on an interim basis, with the 29-year-old seeing out the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.
But, with the summer transfer window almost upon us it is high time that Tottenham named a full-time manager to replace Mourinho.
A number of names ranging from Julian Nagelsmann to Erik ten Hag and Brendan Rodgers have been linked over the past month. Furthermore, a shock return for former manager Mauricio Pochettino continues to be mooted as well, with the Argentine reportedly intent on leaving his current employers Paris Saint-Germain. However, if reports in Italy (h/t Daily Mail) are to be believed, it could very well be Antonio Conte who will be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur. Indeed, the Italian tactician, who quit Inter Milan just a week ago, after having led them to the Serie A title, is said to be in negotiations with Spurs over becoming the next boss.
Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano also corroborates the story on Twitter, stating that Tottenham have made contact with Conte and are discussing over the project in place and potential salary. Although, he does add that a deal is not set in stone yet.

Conte has prior experience in the Premier League, having led Chelsea to a Premier League and FA Cup win in two years he was at the club. While he is known to be a bit mercurial, the Italian brings success with him and could prove to be just what the doctor ordered for Tottenham after another season that ended on a whimper.
